Rubber Processing — The Core Manufacturing Cycle

Rubber processing is the sequence of steps that transforms raw rubber and additives into finished rubber products. Every rubber product — whether a tyre, a hose, a seal, a mat, or a roller — passes through some or all of these fundamental processing stages before it reaches its end use.

Modern Industries manufactures the machinery for every stage of the rubber processing cycle:

Compounding

  • What Happens
  • Machines Used

Raw rubber mixed with fillers, oils, curatives, and additives to create a specific compound formulation

Dispersion Kneader (MIKH) · Rubber Mixing Mill (AFB) · Rubber Bale Cutter

Moulding & Vulcanising

  • What Happens
  • Machines Used

Compound placed in a mould and cured under heat and pressure — transforms soft compound into a dimensionally stable rubber product

Hydraulic Press (MI-HP / MI-THP)

Calendering

  • What Happens
  • Machines Used

Compound passed between precision rolls to produce uniform rubber sheets or coat fabric substrates

Calender Machine (MI-CL Series)

Extrusion

  • What Happens
  • Machines Used

Compound forced through a shaped die to produce continuous rubber profiles, hoses, and tubes

Hot Feed Extruder · Cold Feed Extruder · Silicone Extruder

Quality Testing

  • What Happens
  • Machines Used

Small-batch compound preparation and testing before full-scale production approval

Laboratory Mixing Mill (Lab Series)

Types of Rubber Processing Machinery — What Each Machine Does

Seven machine types from Modern Industries cover the complete rubber processing workflow:

Rubber Mixing Mill (AFB Series)

An open two-roll machine that mixes rubber compounds, masticated raw rubber, and sheets compound for downstream processing. Available in M1 to M8 AFB — 15 HP to 300 HP, roll sizes 10"×24" to 30"×100". Hydraulic stock blender standard on all models.

Dispersion Kneader (MIKH Series)

A closed internal mixer for high-filler compounds requiring intensive shear mixing. Available in MIKH-1 to MIKH-9 — 7.5 HP to 200 HP, chamber capacity 5L to 150L. Hard-faced rotors, hydraulic pressure ram, PLC and HMI automation standard.

Modern Machine Hydraulic Press - Heavy Duty Compression Moulding Machine for Rubber Vulcanization.

Hydraulic Press (MI-HP / MI-THP Series)

A compression moulding and vulcanising press for producing finished rubber components from compound. Single station (MI-HP) and double station (MI-THP). Platen sizes 300×300 mm to 1200×1200 mm, 37T to 600T. Electric, steam, or thermic oil heating.

Rubber Calendar Machine

Calender Machine (MI-CL Series)

A precision roll machine that produces rubber sheets at controlled thickness or applies rubber to fabric substrates. 2-roll, 3-roll, and 4-roll configurations. L-Type, Z-Type, and I-Type layouts. Roll sizes 8"×24" to 24"×72", 15 HP to 250 HP.

Rubber Extruders

Rubber Extruders (Hot Feed / Cold Feed / Silicone)

Continuous profile and tube production machines. Hot Feed Extruders for tyre treads and large-section profiles. Cold Feed Extruders for weather strips, hoses, and precise-dimension profiles. Silicone Extruders for medical tubing and food-grade profiles.

Rubber Bale Cutter (MI-BCM)

A hydraulic front-end machine that slices raw rubber bales before compound mixing. 20T cutting force, alloy-steel blade, idler roller table. Prepares natural rubber bales for mastication and kneader feeding.

Laboratory Mixing Mill

A compact precision two-roll mill for R&D compound development and QC batch testing. Roll sizes 6"×13" to 8"×18", batch capacity up to 2 kg. Motorised nip, digital readout, TCU temperature control — ISO-grade test reproducibility.
