Precision Laboratory Mixing Mills — Built for R&D and Quality Control

Compact, high-performance machinery designed for small-scale mastication, formulation development, and compound testing in 1-2kg batches.

What is Laboratary Mixing Mill?

MODERN Laboratory Mixing Mills are engineered specifically for research facilities and quality assurance departments to mix, masticate, and disperse additives into polymers (rubber/plastics) in small batches for R&D and quality control. It uses heated, counter-rotating rollers to apply intense shearing and compression forces, creating uniform compounds, test sheets, and consistent color dispersion.

Key Features and Functions:
  • Two-Roll Design: Consists of two horizontal rollers (often 6″ x 13″ or 8″ x 18″) rotating at different speeds to create friction and shearing.
  • Temperature Control: Rolls can be heated (steam/electric) for melting and cooled (water) for cooling the material.
  • Adjustable Nip: The gap between the rollers (nip) is adjustable to control material thickness.
  • Applications: Essential for testing rubber/PVC formulations, color matching, and creating small-batch samples.
  • Safety Features: Includes emergency stop buttons, safety bars, and sometimes safety covers to ensure operator safety

Available in sizes from 6″×13″ to 8″×18″, our lab mills ensure scalable data and repeatable results for modern tire and industrial rubber labs.

MODERN laboratory mills are equipped with independent drive systems and variable frequency drives to allow researchers to simulate exact factory conditions on a miniature scale. This reduces material wastage during the R&D phase while providing accurate data for motor load, temperature profiles, and compound viscosity.
The inclusion of motorised guides and digital nip sensors ensures that every batch is processed under identical physical parameters, making it the preferred choice for ISO-certified quality control labs.”
